Definition
Lead Qualification
The process of evaluating inbound inquiries to determine which represent viable sales opportunities, using defined criteria such as budget, timeline, need, and authority, so that human sales effort is focused on qualified prospects.
Lead Qualification is not autonomous decision-making. The system applies criteria defined by the business. When a lead meets the criteria, it is routed to the sales team. When it does not, it is nurtured or declined according to business rules. A human reviews borderline cases.
